Cardboard Testimony: Ben Prestridge

In June of 2008, I was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer called
Embryonal Rhabdomyo Sarcoma. Rhabdomyo Sarcomas are more commonly
found in small children from 1-3 years old, so I was referred to MD
Anderson in Houston, where they told me that my cancer was in the
fourth stage and that it was not only in my jaw, but in my lungs, too,
and it was bad. My doctor told me that if the tumor didn’t respond to
the chemo in the first few rounds, that I would probably die. I prayed
that God would not only heal me, but also continue to provide for my
family and me, and I believed that He would. This is when the
blessings began to pour in! God blessed me with an amazing family that
gave me the support that I needed to not get down and to keep a
positive attitude. I knew that I wasn’t going to die; my wife and
daughter needed me! Daily we received e-mails and donations from
people we didn’t even know, letting us know that they were praying and
fasting for me. God blessed me with a job that continued to take care
of me, and He strategically placed people in my life that were more
than willing to help.

I received chemotherapy for 15 months, along with two months of
radiation. It brought me to my knees, but I never lost faith that God
was healing me and that it would all be over soon. Cancer is a
terrible disease, but I was never able to focus on how bad it was
because of the blessings that I was seeing every day! I finished my
treatments in September, and God has blessed me with great health. I
have so many stories of how God has had his hand on my life. I would
be happy to share them with anyone who has been diagnosed with cancer
or who is going through a life changing experience.
